Description

Over the centuries composers have found the art of writing canons to be almost irresistible.

In this collection we have strived to find canons that are beautiful, enjoyable and exciting, as well as uplifting. They can be used for a multitude of different activities including sight singing and performing. Additionally, they provide excellent material for the development of part-singing training, dictations and harmonic analysis.

Virtually all the canons presented in this collection are in score form, as this aids harmonic analysis. We have presented the canons in their original language where this is known and searched for the most reliable editions. The musical period spans over 750 years and provides a fascinating insight into the fashion and taste of the various periods the canons represent.
