Committee: Mary Place – Chairman (UK), Helga Dietrich (Hun), Judy Johnson (Aus),
Betsy McLaughlin-Moll (USA), Mary Stouffer (CAN)
Under the auspices of the International Kodály Society

During the 23rd International Kodály Symposium in Canada, the International Katalin Forrai Award was presented to Ewa Krzatala by Gilbert De Greeve.

Born in Poland, Ewa completed a Master of Arts in Music Education degree in Gdansk, and then moved to Canada.

In 1993, Ewa enrolled in the Music in Early Childhood Summer Course at the Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto and there she met and was inspired by Katalin Forrai. Since then, Ewa has worked with children from babies upwards, and is currently also involved in teaching and administering the post graduate Advanced Certificate in Early Childhood Music Education offered jointly by the Royal Conservatory and Ryerson University.

It was an honour and a privilege for Mary Stouffer and I to take part in the occasion, and by recognising Ewa’s achievements, it offered a deeply significant opportunity to contribute to Katalin Forrai’s legacy.

It was a truly memorable event for all concerned.
