Kodály Ireland International Summer Course 2025

Kodály Ireland’s 2025 Summer Course took place from June 30 to July 5 at Dublin City University St Patrick’s Campus with international tutors Zoltán Pad and Anna Füri, and Irish tutors Amy Ryan, Clare McEvoy, Amy Walsh, Jessica Harris. The course centres on daily classes in solfege, conducting, choir and chamber music, with special workshops on vocal production, choral leadership, primary music methodology and teaching children with additional learning needs. The event was a recognised training event for primary school teachers, also welcoming many choral singers, university music students and instrumental teachers.
The theme of our annual summer course is Active Music-Making, and to this end we prioritised small workshop groups with lots of movement and engagement! Highlights included Zoltán Pad’s advanced conducting class, Amy Walsh’s session on movement in the music classroom and Amy Ryan’s workshop on conducting school choirs and singing groups. The course culminated as always with a concert and reception for participants, their friends and family, and invited guests from the Hungarian embassy in Dublin and the broader Irish community of Kodály educators. The concert showcases highlights of the work from the week, with performances from each conducting group, chamber music including violin duos, piano duos and chamber choir, and the course choir conducted by Zoltán Pad.
